Oh summer, you are here in full force and I can no longer wear my beloved jeans when outdoor activities are planned. It’s just too hot for that. I went for a run yesterday and it took me back to high school soccer practices in the stifling summer heat – it was not a pleasant memory. I feel that as a Floridian once “cooler” temps arrive (this means low 80’s) we tend to forget how miserable our summers are. I really do love Florida, but summers are brutal and beating the heat is a challenge. Shorts, skirts, and dresses are in heavy rotation in my summer wardrobe and these brocade shorts by J. Crew – scored at Style Encore for $12 – have been featured a lot in my outfits as of late. I’ve dressed them down a bit with my favorite chambray shirt or a black tank and my d’orsay flats. It’s that mix of dressy and casual that I like to play with.
I feel I need a few more shorts and skirts to really complete my summer wardrobe. Some nice breezy tanks would be good too. What’s on your shopping list for the summer? And what are things you gravitate toward in the summer time to beat the heat? Suggestions are welcome. Stay cool.
